ECON 101 Macroeconomics 5 Credits
Organization and operation of the American economy from an aggregate point of view, emphasizing the government and foreign sectors. Includes problems of inflation, unemployment, taxation, analysis of Gross Domestic Product, fiscal and monetary policy, money and banking, and international trade and finance.
Prerequisites: MATH 098 or Placement test.

ECON 102 Microeconomics 5 Credits
Organization and operation of the American economy as it relates to individual/household and business sectors. Includes an analysis of demand and supply, elasticity and utility theory, competition and monopoly and labor.

ECON 104 Economic History 5 Credits
Development of economic thought from mercantilism to the present. An examination of the ideas of the great economists and the impact of these ideas on their times. An analysis of the relation of economic thought to scientific, social and political thought, as well as its impact on the environment over time.
Prerequisites: WRIT 101 or eligible to take WRIT 101.

ECON 222 International Economics 5 Credits
Develops strategies for analyzing and understanding global economic issues and emerging patterns of international trade and finance. Areas covered include international trade theory, international financial institutions, exchange rate policy, common markets, capital migration and investment and public policy towards international trade.
Prerequisites: ECON 101 or instructor's permission.
