• Washington Online (WAOL) is a cooperative effort by the Washington State Community and Technical college system.
• WAOL provides courses necessary to complete an AA degree on the Internet.
• Courses offered may be taught by faculty at any of the Washington State Community and Technical Colleges.
• Students must enroll through their local community or technical college and follow that

HOW A WAOL CLASS WORKS
Students participate regularly in the virtual classroom which includes discussion, research, submission of assignments and participation in group activities. There ARE deadlines for completion of assignments and the classes are NOT self-paced.

ADMISSIONS
Students must be admitted to a Washington community or technical college before they can register for WashingtonOnline courses. Apply online - Washington Community and Technical Colleges Web Admissions Center.

GETTING STARTED

• You MUST have a personal e-mail account BEFORE registering.
• WAOL courses are accessed at www.waol.org.
• Select BLACKBOARD to login to your class.
• The date the classroom OPENS is the first date students will be able to see the course syllabus and other course information.
• Students are expected to participate regularly in the virtual classroom. This includes discussions, research, submission of assignments as required and participation in group activities.

BUYING BOOKS

• Books for WAOL courses may be purchased at the SPSCC campus bookstore.
• You may also go online at www.spsccbookstore.com to order books. Your instructor/section is WAOL.
• All online orders must be paid by credit card.

• Seek assistance if you are having difficulties accessing your classroom.
• Plan to spend 12-15 hours per week working on the course, and plan to work on the course five out of every seven days.
• Washington Online courses do not take fewer hours; however, students do get to work during the hours that are best for them.
