Special Transfer Agreements

For Two-Year Technical Associate (ATA/AAS-T) Degrees

South Puget Sound Community College maintains special transfer agreements with several four-year institutions that allow students graduating with selected ATA (Associate of Technical Arts) or AAS-T (Associate of Applied Science-Transfer) degrees to transfer and complete general education requirements at the institution for a bachelor's degree.

To qualify for these unique transfer opportunities at the following colleges and universities, students must earn the selected ATA or AAS-T degree; complete Writing 101 with a grade of "C" or better and preferably complete Writing 102; achieve a minimum 2.5 grade point average; and meet the admissions criteria of the transfer institution at the time of application.

The Evergreen State College:
The Upside Down Degree program allows students graduating with an ATA in accounting, business administration, computer programming, computer network administration, computer aided drafting technology, early childhood education, horticulture, information technology support, medical assisting, associate degree in nursing, or paralegal the option of earning a bachelor's degree by transferring to The Evergreen State College and successfully completing 90 quarter credit hours of general education course work.

At Evergreen, students will receive curricular advising through an academic advisor, with whom they will develop and file a two-year education plan that includes enrollment in 32 quarter credit hours of a specified Coordinated Studies program, to be included in the additional 90 credits needed for graduation.

City University:
Students graduating with an ATA in accounting, automotive technology, business administration, computer programming, dental assisting, computer aided drafting technology, early childhood education, fire officer degree (AAS-T), fire protection technology, culinary arts, horticulture, information technology support, medical assisting, paralegal or welding have the option of earning a bachelor's degree by transferring to City University and successfully completing 90 quarter credit hours of general education course work.

Montana State University - Northern:
Students graduating with an ATA in accounting, automotive technology, business administration, computer aided drafting technology, information technology support or associate degree in nursing have the option of earning a bachelor's degree by transferring to Montana State University and successfully completing 90 quarter credit hours of general education course work.

For Two-Year Associate of Arts (AA) Degrees

South Puget Sound Community College maintains special transfer ("articulation") agreements with several four-year institutions that allow students graduating with an Associate of Arts degree to transfer directly, or with more ease, to the four-year institution to complete a bachelor's degree.

To qualify for these unique transfer opportunities at the following colleges and universities, students must have completed an Associate of Arts transfer degree; complete Writing 101 and Writing 102 with a C or better; generally achieve a minimum 2.5 grade point average; and meet the admissions criteria of the transfer institution at the time of application. It is the student's responsibility to be aware of their transfer institution's individual transfer requirements.

International Business Transfer at University of Washington, Tacoma:
Students who complete 90 credits of specified coursework at South Puget Sound Community College may transfer directly into UWT's four-year International Business Program. Students will complete all lower division requirements at South Puget Sound Community College. Courses required for the transfer:

Foreign Language
10 credits of one foreign language or 2 years of one foreign language in high school (15 credits or 3 years for International Business).

Writing (10 credits)
WRIT 101 and WRIT 102

Visual, Literary and Performing Arts (10 credits)
College-level foreign language may apply towards Visual, Literary and Performing Arts.

Individuals & Societies (20 credits)
ECON 101, ECON 102, BUS 171 + 5 credits in Psychology, Sociology or Anthropology

Natural World (20 credits)
MATH 121 or 156, MATH 157, MATH 108 + 5 additional credits

Accounting (15 credits)
ACCT 201, ACCT 202, ACCT 203

Electives
To complete 90 transferable credits.

Bethune - Cookman College (Daytona Beach, FLA):
Students graduating with an AA (Associate of Arts) degree from South Puget Sound Community College have the option of transferring to Bethune-Cookman College to earn a bachelor's degree. Sixty of the 90 credits of the AA degree must include: Writing 101 and 102, a 5 credit math class from the general education list, 15-20 humanities credits, 15-20 social science credits, 15-20 natural science credits (5 of which must come from a lab course), and where appropriate, electives related to the student's major. Transfer students are also required to take courses in religion and African American history which can be included in the humanities and/or elective credit distribution of the AA degree.
